Urban Peripheries of the Present

The RESONANCE SPACES series focuses on urban spaces that are usually overlooked in everyday life: industrial fringe areas, infrastructural interstitial spaces and functional architecture. These are places that appear neither representative nor spectacular, yet reveal the central structures of our present day.

These spaces exist at the intersection of economic processes, logistical systems and urban transformation. Fences, façades, traffic areas, storage facilities and industrial sites are expressions of a present characterised by constant movement, densification and change. Within them manifests a state that approximates the concept of the ‘present tense’: a fragile balance between use, change and uncertainty.

The photographs are created through direct engagement with these places – through physical presence, observation and encounter with the spatial situations of the city. Unlike speculative or generative image systems, the work is based on the immediate experience of the photographic moment. The camera thus becomes an instrument of attention: it makes visible what usually goes unnoticed in the everyday flow of perception.

Formally, the images oscillate between documentary precision and a reduced, graphic visual language. Lines, planes and colours structure the space, rendering industrial landscapes as visual compositions. At the same time, the sites retain their ambivalence: functional and aesthetic, anonymous yet socially charged.

RESONANCE SPACES understands urban space as the resonating body of our time. The photographs do not depict self-contained stories, but rather snapshots of an ongoing process – a present in transition. They invite us to read the city’s seemingly casual spaces as sites of social reality, in which the tensions and structures of our present are inscribed.
